stained glass sculpture series
Back in the Soup is a stained glass sculpture series created for the duo exhibition, “Proof of Life.” What sustains us when structures decay? This exhibition transforms The Crooked Studio into a multi-layered environment of sound, light, smell, taste, and touch, designed for reunion.

Through dialogue between Crystal’s visual practice and Julia’s music, we explore where we find solace and purpose in an era of collapse. The answer? Not in the distant or divine, but in the intimate spaces we co-create between one another.
In addition to the exhibition itself, the public program invited old and new friends to join in the creation of the weekend. Programming included live music, shared soup, sensory movement, shrine-making from glass scraps, herbal smudge workshops, and garden crafts, weaving networks of understanding that affirm our place within a shared existence.

Both artists through their respective mediums, Crystal through glass, waste, food ritual, and design and Julia Zahra through musical storytelling and performance, are united by a commitment to fostering connection, healing, and collective care in response to fractured systems and divided worlds.
