Catering seasonal meals based in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Crystal catered several events throughout the year for 5-100 people, based in the Volkskeuken, Poffa’s kitchen, and Space 101, all community spaces of Verhalenhuis Belvedere, an organization that celebrates and shares stories of migrants and diaspora.
The primary event was luncheon featuring a curated menu tailored to the seasonal recipes for Summer through traditional Chinese medicine as a part of a group program, exploring how we can restore our ties to nature, through a cultural and physical lenses, and therefore, with one another. Throughout the year, Crystal cooked various savory and dessert soups for the community to replenish seasonal needs.
Both artists through their respective mediums, Crystal through glass, waste, food ritual, and design and Julia Zahra through musical storytelling and performance, are united by a commitment to fostering connection, healing, and collective care in response to fractured systems and divided worlds.
